There are a lot of futuristic technology that is slowly becoming the new norm and future generations may have a very different outlook in life with constant access to the internet. Some of these technologies include machine translators, 3D printing of food and living organs, humanoid robots and driverless cars. However one of the most controversial technologies are AI.

The AI that is slowly leaking into the market is very different from the movies. There are no robots that are trying to wipe out mankind or computers that want to destroy the world. There are no evil geniuses with a megalomaniacal plan to take over the world, merely an incredibly efficient voice recognition system, self driving cars and apps that can find the nearest sushi restaurant.

The one thing that is very prominent in the AI debate is that not a single intelligent AI has been created yet. Despite massive breakthroughs in technology, the machines still struggle to walk up a set of stairs and can be easily confused when talking to children.

What do you think our future will look like? Do we really need smartphones in the future? Will we have driverless cars? Will there be sentient robots? Will we have machine translators? Will we be able to cure diseases and grow new limbs?

Driverless cars, humanoid robots and computer AI still have a long way to go before they hit the market. Most people are ambivalent about the new wave of technology, claiming that it will disrupt the job market and ensure human workers become unemployable.

People who are excited about the technology claim that it will make life easier and safer. A person from the far future said, “The driverless car will actually ensure people’s safety because the cars can talk to each other and the world around them, ensuring the safest route possible.”

The biggest problem with this new wave of technology is actually getting these ideas to work in real life situations. The AI have to be trained extensively so that they can differentiate between different objects, people and animals.

As of now, the most successful uses of new technology are simple apps and programs such as Google Now and apps that translate from one language to another. The other more complicated ideas, such as the driverless car, still face many issues before they can be used safely on public roads.

Even with these issues though, the future is definitely here. With every day that passes the world gets a little smarter, a little faster and a little more automated. The days of the global village are certainly here to stay, as people become more and more connected with each-other through technology.

The main driving force behind this new wave of technology is to help everyone live a simpler, safer and more efficient life. The new wave of computers, smartphones and programs are meant to help with everyday tasks such as searching for information and getting to places easily. It’s a brave new world out there.
